Research Scientist Needed for Growing Diagnostics Company

A growing biotech company that specializes in developing point-of-care products for the treatment of a variety of debilitating diseases, primarily in the oncology space. This biotech company has secured revenue through the development of an in-vitro diagnostics test for the detection of IgG or IgM antibodies to the COVID virus. This company is building this department from scratch and is willing to move quickly for the right candidate.
The company prefers organic growth so there is no ceiling for career progression. This is strictly an expansionary hire and is something that will be tailored to the right candidate. This role will report directly to the CEO.
The Research Scientist will have responsibilities that include:
- Designing and executing specific immunoassays (ELISA) based on the protocols provided by literature, seminars, and other scientists. Suggesting adjustments of protocols or alternative methods. Helping to troubleshoot assay related problems with little to no guidance from his/her supervisor and performing follow up experiments as necessary.
- Maintaining and organizing detailed records of research and development activities, including prototypes, data, reports, and changes to design requirements
- Communicating effectively with supervisor and other team members on manufacturing team as well as communicating with outside vendors as necessary.
- Maintaining GLP compliance for all laboratory work and documentation related to assay validations in accordance with FDA regulations and company SOPS. Assisting in maintaining GLP compliance within the laboratory.
- Routinely performing multiple assays within the same day and working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Working as part of project teams to develop products from feasibility through validation and manufacturing.
- Collaborating with internal and external collaborators and work directly with the manufacturing group
The ideal candidate will have the following skill set:
- Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related preferred but not required
- +2 years of immunoassay development experience
- Experience working with bioreactors, protein purification, and E.coli based fermentation techniques
- Laboratory skills such as protein purification, antibody conjugation, solution preparation, and assay development
- Strong verbal and written skills required
- Knowledge of QSR's and ISO, and experience working in an FDA regulated environment
