The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role is focused on developing and maintaining peer-to-peer relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs). The MSL will collaborate and communicate with medical experts to:
- Present scientific data on a reactive basis to KOLs or groups of KOLs
- Implement individualize KOL Engagement Plans as appropriate
- Respond to requests for medical information
- Report any Adverse Events (AEs) and/or Product Quality Complaints (PQC)
- Communicate Insights gained
- Process requests for Investigator suggested Studies (ISS)
In certain circumstances MSLs may also be requested to suggest KOLs interested in participating in company sponsored studies, provide study scientific training at the Site Initiation visit (SIV) and ensure clear role and defined responsibilities with the Clinical Research Associate (CRA) and Medical Monitor.
Here's What You'll Do:
- Develop and maintain peer-to-peer collaborations and relationships with KOLs
- Support clinical development and research initiatives as appropriate
- Collaborate with physicians and lead medical affairs initiatives including publications, advisory boards, medical education opportunities, training, and speaker development
- Serve as scientific peer-to-peer resource to external disease experts and internal stakeholder training
- Acquires and maintains a level of scientific knowledge in an assigned therapeutic area(s) and/or disease state(s) involving clinical issues; able to interpret and disseminate pertinent scientific/ clinical data and evaluates current and new information as it applies to therapies.
- Communicate clinical insights on new data to the company Medical Affairs Dept (to inform medical strategy for the therapeutic area)
- Train internal stakeholders on key scientific and medical topics in relevant therapeutic area
- Develop an understanding of the regional landscape including specialties involved in care of patients and strategically map, identify, profile and prioritize KOLs in line with the medical plan and goals
- Maintain effective and appropriate communication among internal stakeholders while maintaining full compliance with requirements (e.g. medical: promotional staff)
- Generate tactical regional plans to provide needs-based, value-added support of the medical and scientific community in-line with company goals
Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:
- Scientific degree required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical Affairs or Medical Science role
- Endocrinology experience preferred
- Proven ability to take initiative, determine priorities and exercise good judgement
- Accepts new challenges with curiosity and drive while remaining positive in the face of obstacles
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within assigned region
- Valid Driver's license
