Title: Director of Upstream Process Development
Company Summary: A global, full-service contract development and manufacturing organization is currently seeking a driven, motivated, and multi-faceted Director to lead their clinical drug development projects in the heart of San Francisco, CA. You will play a key role in leading and supporting a team in the development of upstream processes involving monoclonal and bispecific antibodies, enzymes, and fusion proteins. In addition, you will be able to design and execute experiments to aid in the development process.
The Director will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with teams of senior scientists, process managers, and process engineers
- Applying mammalian CHO cell line knowledge to design, execute, and analyze experimental data
- Ensuring internal and external relationships are nurtured so that upstream process technology transfer activities run smoothly
- Managing junior upstream process development scientists as direct reports
- Improving the efficiency and supporting the innovation of upstream process technologies
The Director should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of related experience/Master's degree with 8+ years of experience/PhD with 6+ years of experience
- First-hand experience with mammalian bioreactors
- Prior experience working for a CDMO preferred
- Comprehensive understanding of how cell growth, productivity, and stability are affected by factors such as metabolics or the environment
