Bioinformatician
The job's main responsibility is to collaborate with biologists, bioinformaticians, and clinicians to design, develop, validate, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines and applications.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new methods and maintain bioinformatics pipelines
- Support to R&D by analyzing and interpreting Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data
- Participate clinical product development and new assay validation
- Perform NGS data analysis and bioinformatics pipeline QA/QC
- Provide troubleshooting and improvement for bioinformatics pipeline and applications for clinical tests
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education
- PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, biophysics, biology and computer science, or related discipline
- MS degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, biophysics, biology and computer science, or related discipline
- Strong knowledge of cancer genomics and human genetics
- Familiar with molecular biology, biological pathways, and genomics
- Strong knowledge of current theories and principals of bioinformatics and computational biology
Skill
- Proficiency with at least one programming language (Python, Perl, R, C/C++, Java) in Linux/Unix environment
- Proficiency with bioinformatics tools for somatic variant detection
- Proficiency in the use of bioinformatics databases
- Ability to read and write a variety of structured/semi-structured formats (example: XML, JSON, CSV, TSV)
- Working knowledge of code repository best practices and distributed version control
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work within a team, among cross-departments, and as an independent contributor, requiring minimal supervision
